Pullman, Washington - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Why do they call them Humid Continental climate?
I would say it's Mediterranean with strong continental influence, as it look at these climates we have in some highlands in the center and norhteastern parts inland of Iberian peninsula.

Hmm winters seem slightly too cool for me to consider it truly Mediterranean. Not really liking this climate though, I don't like summers with temperatures at night much below 15C, and they are also rather short.

Because it is. Humid Continental is basically where places fit that don't belong anywhere else.

It isn't really 'humid' though is it?

Definitely has continental characteristics, not as cold as most continental climates get in winter, and also has quite cool lows in summer and throughout the year. Not really sure what to name this climate, just 'continental' without the 'humid' pre suffix seems about right

Dry Continental with a smidge of Marine West Coast providing the anomalously wet winters.

Wikipedia calls Continental Mediterrean Climates "Humid Continental":

Humid continental climate - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pullman is Dsb, it's an interior west coast climate. I'd call it continental mediterrean.

What's the technical definition of humid? Köppen is pretty lame, and really shouldn't be used. Pullman is borderline semi-arid. I know because I used to live there. All one has to do is drive down the road a bit and down the hill into Lewiston, ID and Clarston, WA, and see that the only reason the place isn't semi-arid is because the airport is up on an high point. Also, it's a transition between the desert of central Washington to the world's only interior temperate rainforest of northern Idaho and surrounding jurisdictions.

Here's a good map that shows just how close Pullman is to Lewiston... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Sn...erNicerMap.jpg
