Next seven days 27-33C forecast highs

London's forecast (which is not too bad for your latitude, and for being oceanic)
It sure is much better than the dross of 2007 and 2008.. at least your next week is better

NWS Record Reports past couple days.
Phew. Wichita Falls, TX/KSPS, after setting the July record cold max last year, missed matching it yesterday by 2F.

DCA has managed a high of 82F every day this month so far. If that persists, this month will tie for 2nd for a not oft-heard persistence statistic: record high monthly cold maximum

Your low temps are quite cool, but decent highs later in the week and lots of sun.... Not too bad

possible your warmest July was warmer than a cool July here. But unlikely to have happened the same July. July 2006, London averaged 72°F:

Weather History for London / Heathrow Airport, #HISTORY.statename | Weather Underground

One of the cooler Julys in recent years averaged 68°F:

Weather History for Chicopee, MA | Weather Underground

note the 44°F low. July 2006 was a bit above average (74°F). July 2007 was slightly cooler than London's hottest? month:

Weather History for Chicopee, MA | Weather Underground

note the highest max dew point and much more rain. The really weird part of London's July 2006 is the dryness. A summer month that dry is extremely rare, nearly impossible.

Looking at the Means Heathrow July 2006 would be tied for 5th coolest on record.

1967: 70.6F
2009: 71.0F
1947: 71.1F
1992: 71.7F
1945: 72.0F
1962: 72.1F
1950/1981: 72.3F
1951: 72.6F
1965/1971/1978: 72.7F
1956/1979: 72.9F
2004: 73.3F

Currently: 71.9F (MDW)

I'd be more curious to see how Heathrow fares agains the PNW hottest summer months. Anyone know?

Just heard, officially the 16th coolest July in 143 years.

Latest seven day forecast just released looks a little better and more summer like

Heathrow had a mean temp of 72.5F in July 2006. Central London was 73.2F.

Ok, then Heathrow would be 8th coolest. "Central London" would be 9th coolest compared to MDW.

If we look at winter, I'd imagine that Chicago's means wouldn't even be near the all time coldest in London right? Or maybe I'm wrong about that?

Officially over 143 years of records:

Dec: 1877: 43.4F/6.3C
Jan: 1880: 39.8F/4.3C
Feb: 1882: 39.0F/3.9C

Note: As you can see, the record warm months happened during the late 1800's when the official thermometer was located on the lakeshore.

Inland MDW (since 1928) only February is warmer.

Dec: 1982: 37.1F/2.8C
Jan: 2006: 36.5F/2.5C
Feb:1999: 39.7F/4.3C

Speaking of Texas... Dallas max was 79°F yesterday. 8th coldest July Max temp since late 1800s

Even Louisiana being in the 60s and 70s in middle of summer. http://www.nws.noaa.gov/view/validProds.php?prod=RER

I am not sure what our other warm Julys are in terms of temperature.. it may not have happened though.
Our hot months are usually associated with dryness, although this month will most certainly finish having an average max of above 26C and will not be dry
