What is the possibility that this will happen. I am really looking forward to a cool summer with nights averaging around 55 F. I HATE muggy 70 F nights. They are just killer conditions with stale air which make it hard to breathe. I hope the summer of 2014 goes down as one of the coldest and wettest in NJ history with several cool and rainy days .

Considering how cool this spring has been even down here, it's not entirely unrealistic that this may be a repeat of....what year was it, 2008? That year had highs in my area barely go above 80 almost the entire summer. Felt great

You mean 2009 right. It was mostly in the mid 80's to upper 50's here. AWESOME SUMMER . August 2013 was very nice as well . I just hope we enter a cool phase for the next 5 years.

2009 was a great summer. I'd love a repeat of that. I just looked at the weather stats and I can't believe we went the whole month of July without going over 90F!

I doubt your scenario would happen though, unfortunately. Not unless it was an exceptionally dry summer. And even if this pattern were to persist, only a temporary break in it with some Gulf air incursion and you'll have nights that fail to go below 70F even if the highs stay relatively low. We have to face the facts: NJ has a really terrible summer climate and nothing's really going to change that or alter it long enough for the whole season to pass.

Much easier than staying above 70.

Summer 2009 in Washington was hottest record of history
Breaking maximum as 103°F(39°C) on July 29, 2009
I was used to cool summers in there so the heat waves made very intense...

Under 70? Brunswick normal minimum stays in the 60s all summer. You're bound to get a few but that's no big deal.

Since 1968 the average number hitting lows of 70F or warmer in June is 1. July is 7. August is 5.

So it doesn't even happen that often but I think you'll get less than 10 this year (June,July,August)

The most amount of times your lows were 70+ was in July 2013. (21 times!! ) August was 15 in 2005.

Thank cold fronts from Canada which ALWAYS stall above the Catskills in summer.

Same reason I hate Binghampton like Hells Kitchen hates Perth.
