Another Greek here?
Hello Akis I am from Thessaloniki.
Although I am an engineer, my hobby is climatology.
The classification of the climate in Northern Greece is problematic. Summers are somewhat wet to be classified in the classic Mediterreanean climate (Csa), overall rainfall is rather little and winters rather cold to be classified as Humid Subtropical (Cfa), summers too hot to be oceanic (Cfb) and overall medium temperature too high to be continental (D).
They are mixed cases but closer to Mediterranean of course.

The name Serres sounds Spanish to me. (Modern) Greek and Spanish are actually quite similar to each other phonology-wise.

I know that there are some cities in Europe with the name Serres. Modern Greek yes. The old type of the word was "Serre" or "Siris".

One of the greatest snowstorms in the city. December 2001. The best winter month I remember. Daily mean temperature of about -2 C and snow from mid December through end January. Absolute low for that month: -17 C and absolute high: 9 C. The coldest month of the last 2 decades. About 1 metre of snow.

Serres is an A-. I originally based my dream climate on its temperatures. Mediterranean rainfall pattern would bump it to an A. I know Ioaninna has a slightly better climate in that regard.

Yes and I prefer Ioannina 's precipitation. Serres is too dry. Except 2 last years.
