Doesn't really look like it is polar air to me. Though the 6C low is pretty cool for this time of year there isn't it. I would think surrounded by the October warmish SST should keep nights warmer.

I think the same thing is happening to us. We are about to get the coldest night since last spring. Forecast down to 45F (7.2C) tonight.

The UK is only going to get cold. The temps will feel cold and there will be more rain (rain is good, just don't like it cold! )! London will see temps down to 16c max by Monday, which would be the coldest temps in a very long time! And Parts of Scotland will see max's in the single figures! BBC Weather! Autumn is almost here people!
Why ow why does it have to be October!
Opinions?
Really? You think 16c is cold? Suggest you move to Mumbai.

You must hate living in this country then!

It's strange seeing an Englishman saying 16C is very cold.

Tbh, I love my country in terms of it's culture, history, nightlife and it's greenery. But I hate the weather between late September and mid March like most people, and I hate the tamps between early October to early April when temps are predominantly below 21C on average and rarely ever go above 20C! Late April to September are the only tolerable months of the year for me, but that's because sunshine is reasonable on average, and late June to early September are the only nice times of the year because of reasonable sun and comfortable temperatures.
As you may have seen before, these are my personal temp ranges:
Frigid: Below 0c
Cold: 0c-10c
Cool: 11c-20c
Mild: 21c-24c
Warm: 25c-30c
Hot: 31c-35c
Blazing: Above 35c
Comfortable range: 21C to 34C
I also love temps above 34C but in moderation, only, like, every now and then. I can also tolerate the occasional snow day, and temps in the high teens/20C - but I wouldn't sit around in it!

Calling 16C very cold is overreacting... But I just don't like the fact it's getting colder and darker everyday!!! Particularly when my Bro is heading for summer over there in Brisbane at the moment... Bastard! LOL

Think positive. It is a beautiful scenery to have fallen leaves with rain and cool temperatures. It is romantic! Autumn is here!
