What's the northernmost place in the world where the average low in its coldest month is above freezing? The northernmost I can find is Torshavn at 62N, though Værøy at 67N looks like a strong contender

Røst - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Very close but not quite. This place you're looking for is over the ocean somewhere in this vicinity.

Værøy and Røst in Lofoten is almost there using 1981-2010 as base period, as most people here do, but the low is slightly too cold.
The northernmost I could find is at the coast ca 150 km NW of my city: Buholmråsa in Norway 64 24 N
Normales et records 1981-2010 à AKHIOK - Infoclimat
Warmer in winter is Sula, an island west of Trondheim (high 3.5C/low 1C in coldest month): Normales et records 1981-2010 à AKHIOK - Infoclimat

Warmest in winter is Svinøy, 4.5C/2.5C coldest month.

Since I don't trust Infoclimat wrt actually having data for all those years, I did collect the data myself from met.no (free at eKlima) and did the math myself for Sula island, 1981-2010.

I was curious to find the northernmost place in the world with the avg low above freezing all year.
So I checked the two coldest months of the year, January and February.
There were missing data for four years (avg high/avg low) but most of those years did have monthly mean, and the missing months were mostly mild.

Sula is a village on this island group, with 119 residents (2001).
Sula, Sør-Trøndelag - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

So here it is, Sula village at 63 50 40 N 08 27 40 E (1981-2010)
January: avg high 3.8C / avg low 0.7C
February: avg high 3.8C / avg low 0.4C

Northernmost piece of land I know with all monthly lows aboove freezing. It's further north than the Faroe.

Almost 64°N seems that we have a winner!
