Some interesting facts about Tromsø, which is not mentioned in the wikipedia article:

Last summer, three official weather stations recorded 30C or more, with the warmest and new city record of 31C recorded at Tromsø - Stakkevollan (80 m) on July 10th: Weather statistics for Stakkevollan, Tromsø (Troms)

The weather station used in the wikipedia box is 100 m asl, and the data is from 1961-90.

Tromsø has the national sunhour record for one month: 430 sunhours in July 1980.

Comparing with Ushuaia, Tromsø has a little warmer summers, especially the daily low.

Nature:
There is also deciduous forest around Tromsø, actually the decidous downy birch is the most common tree, although there are also Rowan, bird cherry and so on. In the Tromsø forest in early June: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/F..._Norway%29.jpg

Autumn colours, this one is not in Tromsø but close, this is what it looks like in September: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/F...h,_2009_09.jpg

Here is two photos from the path around the lake Prestvannet (100 m asl on top of Tromsøya). When I lived in Tromsø, I used to run along this path....https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/F...et-parkvei.jpg

In winter, in the mainland part of Tromsø, snowy forest and a steep mountain (Piggtinden): https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/F...Piggtinden.JPG

As I now live in Trondheim, more than 6 degrees latitude further south, I do appreciate Trondheim's warmer and much earlier spring, longer and warmer summer, warmer autumn, and to have sunshine also in December...but I miss the excellent skiing right outside your doorstep in Tromsø and the very frequent Aurora Borealis in winter...the real midnight sun in summer is a bonus in Tromsø, and the mountains are closer to the city in Tromsø, so the panoramic views are certainly better there.

So you can choose between Tromsø, Norway at 69.7° North and Ushuaia, Argentina at 54.8° South.
Haha no. I'd rather kill myself. But if you'd ask me where I'd rather have my funeral then I guess it's Ushuaia for the higher amount of sunshine and its higher sun angles.

Tromsø for colder, snowier winters and warmer summers. Besides it has auroras in winter and midnight sun in summer.

Tromso. Better summers and snowier winters. Ushuaia is too uniform year round, in that yicky 32-50 F, gloomy range.

Yeah I'll take Tromso believe it or not, at least they get some interesting i.e snowy weather in winter and milder summers - and if the people of Ushuwawawa apparently hate us Brits so much I wouldn't want to be around such banal people who hold grudges like that, so I'll just laugh at how much colder their summers are than even Buxton.

Why Ushuaia despite being at lower latitude 54!!! Is as cold as tromso..that is ten degrees higher?

Why the southern emisphere seems to be colder comparing the same latitudes with the northern emisphere????

The Antarctic Circumpolar current is the answer
