1.Fairbanks-snowy and cloudy
2. Duluth-an excellent winter with plenty of snow, but loses points for being sunny
3. Lindsay-Another good winter with snow, but doesn't last long and starts to fizzle out early in February.
4. Chicago-Definitely continental and intense enough but it would be better with a lot of snow
5. Munich-Not a bad climate since it has variety but it lacks a strong seasonality to its winter.
6. Bastia-a milquetoast winter.
I'm really tied between Reno and Miami as to which one has a worse winter.
On one hand, Reno has some noticeable temperature changes and gets a few dustings of snow. On the other hand, Reno is extremely dry and gets under 10" of rain. Miami has no winter or seasons other than summer but at least it has precipitation.
Fairbanks would be a clear winner if it was a lot windier and not so easily prone to warm-weather outbreaks in the middle of winter where it gets up to 30F easily, as in recent years.
Duluth would be a clear winner if it was about 20-25F colder and with a longer winter.
Wow. It's educational for me to learn that some people actually like cold, snowy winters. I'm not one of them, lol. I guess 12 years in Chicagoland got that out of my system.
