Just got back home - going through my pics now...lol.
Yeah, the mountains of western North Carolina (and a bit of Tennessee) rock. I just lurrrrvve the mountains. It felt soooo good being at altitude - not only for the cool weather but the awesome views in addition. Almost magical, really, climbing up into the clouds and looking down at the valleys so far below. Beats flying, even, since you can actually be outside in that wonderful rarefied air.
Pics will be forthcoming once I've had a bite to eat.
Sucks being home of course, it's nasty hot, the house is all stuffy - it will be a "downstairs night" for sure. Sure did have a great time though.
Awesome. Yeah, the mountains are great. Sounds like a really nice area.

Yeah, you should visit this area instead of Myrtle Beach...lol. And in Cherokee, they had Confederate flags for sale. Saw a fair number of teens with Confederate garb as well...lol. The awesome thing too, was that everyone seemed to be having a grand old time - it's just a real treat for Southerners to be able to drive up from nasty, oppressive heat into COOL and refreshing air.

Lol, I'll bet it's a nice place to go. And yeah, if I go, I'd like to see people with Confederate flags, garb, etc. Same as if I go to Canada, I'd like to see the Canadian flags and whatnot. A place in Charleston that sold tourist stuff was selling some when I was there. You can also buy Confederate-themed garb at the store owned by the local rodeo here, unless they've taken such items off the shelf recently, which sadly would not surprise me. There's also the Wildwood, NJ boardwalk... enough said for anyone who's been there.
Myrtle Beach may be a bit too touristy for my liking. But the warm ocean water would be the main attraction for me. For the mountains and more of a Southern flavor, West Virginia would be closer for me.

I suppose Vermont and New Hampshire are mountains with a northern flavor but I never thought of them that way.
