Oh, right lol. Yes that's why I didn't choose Upstate NY or Northern New England. Also, my brother is moving to Chicago in August so I'll be closer to him to go visit. Minneapolis is about six hours by car from Chicago.
Yes summers will still be hotter though winter comes much earlier (by November, the average high is about 40 F, which is like December for you I'm guessing?)
Yeah, MN is a bit flat, though Minneapolis isn't too far from hilly terrain and not far from many outdoorsy type of activities in the Northwoods of Wisconsin and the UP of Michigan. And of course, MN is the land of 10,000 lakes.
I've read Minneapolis is very outdoor oriented for a big city.
Sounds like a good move. Alaska might have been pushing it. Much easier to travel back to Florida to visit family if you have to.

Yeah, also, Minneapolis' more than 3,000,000 in its metropolitanean area. Fairbanks just 90,000 I think (around 30,000 in the city proper if I remember correctly). Fairbanks would have been extremely boring, always seeing the same people. And winters in Fairbanks are more than brutal.

I don't live in a big city at all, the few towns in the area add to about the same size as Fairbanks. But it's not isolated, and can get out if I want. Fairbanks is a 6 hour drive from Anchorage.

What's deterring me from Fairbanks is not really how small or bitterly cold it is, just how far it is from Miami. Going back to visit my family will be very difficult from there, while in Minneapolis it's a four hour flight away or a 26 hour drive.
I actually work on my own schedule since I'm an Uber driver, so I did take the day off from work today.
I still bust my own ass though, I did about 43 hours of Uber driving last week.
Didn't realize driving for Uber could be a full time job.
