We've had 16 90-degree days here in Columbus, Ohio, two shy of our average of 18. Seemed high to me when I saw it but that's straight from the National Weather Service.
Forecasts say one or two more could be in the offing in the next week or so. We usually get one last hot spell in late August or early September before we begin the gradual cool down for the rest of the year.

As of yesterday:
Phoenix has had 124 days with highs 90°+ and still 10 days with lows 90°+ (none in August, so prob done with those for this year). Today will make day 125 with a high 90°+, forecasting a high of 105° which will be 1° above the normal high of 104°. On Thursday, our normal high drops to 103°, and down to 102° on Sunday; slowly but surely, Summer is winding down...
Near me in eastern Sweden somewhat south of Stockholm, Sweden set a nationwide record for the last week of August last Friday.
Norrköping had 32.7 C on August 26. The only comparable temperature was in Karlskrona on August 27, 1964 with 32.4 C
Interestingly I was in Norrköping on university-related issues by lunch, when it was just 27. As soon as I left by train, temperatures exploded throughout the afternoon.
However, this was the only 90 F day in Sweden this summer.
