Hi,

In my attempts to improve my ideal climate and at the same time make it more realistic, I have another question relating to weather conditions.

I have heard of year-round warm, humid places such as Honolulu being described as "not that bad" humidity-wise because of the moderate winds. Do winds indeed have that sort of humidity moderating effect, or is it just tourist guide hogwash?

And would it be realistic to have a climate with the same temperatures and rainfall as my ideal (see my album "Weather stuff"; it's called "Ideal climate 201606"), but humidity around 60% (annual average) and wind speeds of 10-15 mph (16-24 km/h)? If so, would that still be reasonably pleasant?

Any and all input is very much appreciated.

Yeah, with the winds around 20km/h it should be quite pleasant (at least for me), might even feel cold at night in winter.

I know you're from Perth, so I understand 65*F (18*C) can feel cold to you, especially if Galaxyman's rants can be believed...

But yeah, I don't think it should be too bad either. Maybe I'll up the lows anyway because I'm getting sick of this subarctic crummer.

But thanks for your response, and your input will be considered.

On the west coast of Maui I was surprised at the wind...and I've spent lots of time in Chicago! I was there in early spring and it actually felt a little too cool for me on the beach . The wind is almost constant and strong - the average is 15 mph, pretty much year round. So yes, wind helps humidity a lot, as long as it isn't too hot, but I'm not sure where that cutoff would be.

February temps in Lahaina:
80 F average high
63 F average low
62 F average dewpoint

My ideal temperatures would be 81/65ºF (27/18ºC) in the winter and 88/72ºF (31/22ºC) in the summer, which I'm assuming is well below whatever the magic cutoff is. I don't like the feeling of being too cold outside of winter, though - I'd prefer to feel neutral if not slightly warm.

So my understanding is that I'm understanding how this works and I just need to tweak it for truly ideal values?

Thanks very much for your input!
