I was 14 when 9/11 happened so unsurprisingly I remember it very well. That was definitely one of the defining moments of my generation.
Don't remember it at all. But I guess it's not the kind of thing you want a 6 year old to see.
I vividly remember the Iraq War, I even recall watching the bombardment of Baghdad live on Sky News. That must have been day 1, it was like a firework display.
I've read stories of people who were 5/6 at the time living in NYC, who remember it. Some even saw the planes crash into the towers from their schools.
But if you were a 5/6 year old from England, it's not surprising you won't remember it. Even if you saw it on TV, you probably wouldn't understand what was happening.
Yes I took the day off work, made up some excuse so I could work from home, then watched the eclipse on Southsea seafront, where the local radio station was holding "Party In The Dark", was great fun...
Hmm... I thought we were due a big one in 2001 that didn't happen???
1999 not so sure
I remember 1 August 1999 though because that was the first time I trusted my own motor skills enough to swim without floating devices. From my horrible motorics back in 1995 when I hardly could put a peg in a hole with my left hand that was amazing progress. Although I'm totally unhandy today I still appear very normal in that sense since more than 17 years now
Now, 7/7 I remember very clearly we was sent home early that day and I was told ''something has happened'' my Mum and my brother looked like they were hiding something.. Then I saw it on the news. ''Bomb explosion on the underground'' (and a London bus) that scared me ****less.. I had fear of going on the tube for a good year after infact we avoided going underground for a while.
I remember it being cloudy in Cornwall, and mostly sunny here (though we only had 95% coverage rather than 100% they had over there).
I also remember the transit of Venus in June 2004. It was hot and sunny, and I made a makeshift viewing piece by taping loads of photo negative strips together until they were several mm thick.
