Yes I agree, 4-5% is too low. I prefer stronger beers, Belgium does them well and they are normally 8% abv which gets you pissed quicker and thus can only be good. Saying this, I will still drink lots of weaker beer, I just feel bloated after about 5 cans and so the drunk feeling isn't as nice
my ideal beer is 5.5%. in sweden, all drinks with an abv above 3.5% are restricted to systembolaget https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Systembolaget . you can get drunk on "folköl" too, but you have to drink like 12 of them
This is why I drink hard liquor more. You have to drink too much beer to get ****ed up and you feel like a ball of carbonated water. Plus, hard liquor is more fun.
hard liquor takes its toll faster than low-alcoholic drinks such as beer, though. not to mention hardcore alcoholics prefer it. more tragedy associated with it.
The highest ABV beer I've had is Sam Adams Winter Lager at 5.6%. But it doesn't seem to be a highly important factor, as Yuengling is 0.6% lower than Coors Banquet, and I like the taste of Yuengling much better.
There's a joint around here called Burgers N' Beer and I had a beer from there that was like 11% alcohol, I forgot what it was called though. There's beers up to 13-14% there.
