It makes me even more angry that everyone on here is talking about "arctic outbreaks"

Alaska finally getting some cold air, with Fairbanks (PAFA) hitting -36f this morning.

Fort Yukon (PFYU) at -45f right now

Compare with last year, when Fairbanks never even reached -30f the entire season.

In comparison, Montevideo hasn't dropped below -2c the past two years, Sydney didn't go below 5c, Buenos Aires hasn't gone below 1c, and these are all East Coast climates much farther north than Tallahassee
Hardly. If anything, the record cold it CAN get though, is more a positive in my book. Extreme weather is exciting. -6 C is nothing extreme at all. It's getting that cold this week here in Texas and no one is making a big deal about it. 21 F is like, the perfect temperature for winter as its cold enough to snow but not frigid either. I don't see whats so extreme about jacket and scarf weather. If children can play outside in it, its not extreme. People exaggerate the cold too damn much. If its 21 degrees outside and snowing I'm not telling my kids "don't go outside! It's dangerously cold!" no... 21 degrees is perfectly fine with a few layers. You're acting like its -30.

Sounds horrible.
If it's any comfort it looks like the models have backed off a bit on the Arctic blast for Oklahoma.
