Too hot year round (so next two options apply)
Too much humidity
Not enough snow
Too sunny

It's a little too prone to hurricanes and flooding, but that's not a huge deal to me. July and August are a little drier than I would prefer, but with cooler summers it wouldn't be a big deal.

I wonder what Houston's average daily maximum heat index is.

What about diurnal range too low or summer lows too hot or not enough variation?
I said pretty much the same thing you did, and I live here. We've had several days this month and in December of 80 degree temperatures. It makes me want to lie down in my chest freezer for a nap. Where is winter? I look forward to at least a brief annual respite from air conditioning, and we aren't even getting it in January! We've also had flooding lately, again. Sigh.

Too hot during summers. Too many thunderstorms. Too prone to heavy rain and hurricanes.

With a normal high of 94° and normal dewpoint of 74° in August, that is a heat index of around 105° give or take

It's too dry for such hot temperatures. I much prefer the summer climate here.

For those averages certainly; why be so hot without rain?

Yep. Heat without rain is pointless.
