Well, I searched for it earlier, but can't find a town like that. If you wanted to go down the lists of the different sized towns and cities, you may be able to find the one you're referring to.

It could have been Tatum, but I doubt it. Here is a current temp map. I wouldn't think that the hottest place in the US now would be that much different from yesterday. It looks like Southwestern Arizona would have been your best bet.

Interesting map...

Reminds me something I saw earlier on Weather Channel maps....
Most of the continental U.S. is cold now. (under 65 F)

Do most Americans consider it to be normal to have some cold days before Halloween?
Even mid-October?
Do most Americans consider cold days to be weird for October,
however they have a different idea of what is "cold" than I do?

*The reason I consider a high under 65 F to be cold is not because say 62 F or even 59 F is cold weather,
it's because anytime it's below 55 F after 9 am or before 5-6 pm makes some of the daylight hours feel cold,
hence a "cold day", even if only parts of it are cold.

** I figured when you get a high of at least 65 F, the bulk of the daylight hours will probably be close to or above 60 F.

I live in Lewiston Idaho and yesterday downtown it reached 113 but up by the airport it said 111, come in 2 degree's different? In my opinion anywhere 100 or higher is just too miserable to me!!! Today it is suppose to be 110, but could be the same as yesterday. Tomorrow it's suppose to be around 88 can't wait!!

Wow 103 is hot too. We have a fire around here that according to the paper said as of today has burned about 490 acres so far and is about 42% contained. The thing is the wind picked up a little which doesn't help. It's along the snake river. The fire started by a cabin going up in flames which the owner thought to be arson. In order to get to the other side of the river to the cabin you have to use a boat. I hope they find the person responsible and they can 0ut it out fast! I hope you don't have any fires there where your at! Keep safe and hydrated in this heat!
