A no brainer again Selsey of course, they also made the weather fact book with at least two tornadoes causing significant damage.

Yep it gets more tornadoes because of the shape of the peninsula, cloud cover is affected by that also. I actually went there when Storm Brian hit and although it was very windy and cool with heavy showers, there was also a good deal of sunshine. Bognor Regis was the sunniest place in the UK one of the days. I was certainly worried about tornadoes and flooding before I went though.

It doesn't get more tornadoes, it has just had a couple of notable ones. The whole stretch of the Hampshire & West Sussex coast gets tornadoes quite often, but mostly small. One of the strongest ever recorded in the UK was in Portsmouth.

I think it is more likely to get that type of weather as well as thunderstorms. The flooding was a real worry because it was basically at sea level and in the Met Office wind warning.

Selsey for the warmer summers and less chance of snow.

It's more likely to get coastal flooding because of the peninsula it's on & the rubbish sea defences. That entire stretch of the south coast gets the same type of weather/storms.

But that weekend there was a Met Office wind warning, so it was extremely windy (Wind gusts over 50 mph). Inland where I live there was no warning. The caravan site got a bit flooded, but it wasn't bad as the sun soaked up a lot of the puddles. I highly doubt it is usually that windy - I was just unlucky and it shows how the weather you experience on a weekend visit can be vastly different to a climate.

Obviously it isn't always windy, but especially in autumn & winter the entire south coast can get gales & is often windy. Selsey just suffers these winds more because it sticks out & some idiots thought it was a good idea to put caravan parks right behind the beach...
