Seems like a COLD winter. Nice. Even though last winter was snowy. I still want a snowy winter as there was a hot summer

To give you an idea of just how cold that month was here, below are the max/min temps for sever stations around the metro area. I highlighted Barrington which is a north suburb 17 miles northwest of ORD

and it turned out to be one of the coldest winters on record as well

But I highly doubt that this winter will look like 76/77. Just my opinion

We have not had a winter since 2010. Other than Last Jan i got down to 27f that was the first temp below 32f since 2010. We never went years without a temp below 32f.

^^^^^^^^

I’m erring on the side of caution but I am hoping for a mild winter but I am expecting another unusually severe winter for Central Indiana again this year, I am set to release my early winter predictions in late September(first preliminary outlook), followed by my intermediate outlook(probably late October), and my final outlook(around thanksgiving holiday), but for now, my early prototype prediction is for a 2013-2014 and a 2009-2010 hybrid. A lot can change between now and the end of November, so this “Prototype” is still subject to significant revisions.

We are in a solar minimum, and from what I've learned about what this means is that you can expect extremes from the weather in regards to the season. IOW, a very hot summer and a very cold winter. When I was splitting firewood in the spring, we made sure to split a couple extra cords.

I typically have 10 cords stocked. 5 seasoned for winter, the other 5 for the following. I've been so busy I only have 4 cords available and none for Winter 2019-20. I'm going to have to get splitting now.

All I know is there were some memorable events and winters between 2006-2011. Coincidence the sun had very low sunspots? Maybe not. Also the Historic 1996 winter as well.

No one knows this far out what is in store for us. One thing we do know is that temps will vary a lot as they usually do in our winters around here.

Couldn’t agree more, still WAY too early to know what old man winter is cooking up for the eastern two thirds of the lower 48 States.
