My gauge is catching the snow and I'm swapping it with a dry one as I melt the contents inside.

1/2" snow total melted to 0.08" liquid. 6:1 wet ratios

Having fun! I miss this! Still haven't had a bigger snowfall since mid November. (need 1")

Cambium, I love your enthusiasm!

Here in SW New Hampshire, it's almost 11 p.m. and I'm about to go to bed -- snow was supposed to start almost 4 hours ago (around 7 p.m.), but I just looked outside -- we have a dusting at best and there's nothing falling at the moment. Just re-checked the forecast -- instead of 2 FEET OR MORE of snow on Saturday into Sunday (which was yesterday's forecast), it now says 5-8" of snow overnight with 1-3" of a "wintry mix" tomorrow. If this holds, this storm will be quite the bust for us. I WAS looking forward to snow since we've had basically nothing so far this winter, but if this reduced forecast means that ice is not going to hit us, I am fine with that.

Hope everyone is staying safe and warm.

Just took dogs out (one at a time). It's raining. 33F/1C. Supposed to drop another 10 degrees. Expecting that rain to get icy next.

Columbus Ohio, and they really messed up on the forecast. On Tuesday, they said upwards of 16” could fall. Yesterday it was down to 5-8”, depending in where you are. It rained all day, no ice or snow. It finally started snowing around 9. Might get 3” total I’m guessing. Funny, all the local weather forecasters are backtracking. They are all denying their previous high snowfall predictions.

Because it was an incredibly difficult storm to forecast.

Sleet here while 5000' still is slightly below freezing.

Wonder at what level it went above freezing. 2500' and surface still below. Raining in NYC and Long Island. Sleet here.

2500 temps still below freezing here

Got it.

According to HRRR, Looks like its above freezing above 850mb level at around 6000'. That little warmth between 5000-6500 feet made it change over. because it's still below freezing all the way down, it's able to fall as sleet.

Wonder how much sleet we get now.

For those of you getting sleet... After it changes over from snow to sleet, CLEAR THOSE BOARDS, OR YOUR DECK so you can get the sleet accumulations.

Go out there and clear something so you can get the sleet accumulations..

Quick look at the progression of the actual 5000' temps past 4 hours.. Trough down to Louisiana.

+5C over Philly. Look where the freezing line is now. At the CT Coast. It was -8C 4hrs ago.

Storm over West Virginia now.
