My meteorologists want to wait for the storm to come onshore before going with snow totals in Kansas City. At the moment, they're thinking 2"-5" southwest-to-northeast, with 25-30 mph wind. After last weekend, 5" probably won't seem like a big deal.
We go almost 5 years without getting 3" of snow in a single event...now people are shrugging off forecasts of 5" or more. Things change fast here!
It is extremely rare that a watch goes up this early. My guess is NWS Buffalo wants to increase awareness as soon as possible given the widespread nature of the storm. Hopefully the track does not shift significantly south...it would be a cry wolf situation for sure.
The snow and ice wont be melting fast either. Salt might not even be that effective. Here's a look at the Wind Chill Values & Temps Monday afternoon per GFS.
Mid week NYC will go above freezing but cold comes in right after that so there might be snow/ice on ground for a while.
December 7-10 Storm Winners were: Cambium, Craziaskowboi, Pfalz, QIDb602, ral31Nice! This could be the biggest of the season. I think there's going to be a lot of moisture with this one.

After looking at the latest euro and NAM, the entire state outside of a sliver of extreme southwest PA and most of southeast PA are getting a foot. You heard it here first
