Autumn because it provides a nice relief from the hot summer.

For Christchurch, NZ: my favourite time is peak autumn in mid-to-late April, but by late May it's one of my least favourite times of year - cold but not often much snow in the mountains, and those formerly pretty leaves need to be picked up.

Fall. The end of the heat and beginning of cool/cold weather. Leaves falling and Halloween and Thanksgiving. I prefer when the seasonal transition is more subtle, though, and less dramatic. It's early November and been freezing cold lately.

Summer is my favorite season. For a while I said spring because Atlanta's hot humid summers, but since Atlanta gets plenty chilly or downright cold at times in 3 seasons, I'm going to have to go with summer for its consistent warmth/heat. And that goes for most of the US, summer is the favorite. Exception would be the hot desert areas like Phoenix and the low deserts of Southern California, spring would probably be the favorite there. As well as Florida, summer wouldn't be my favorite. North Florida....probably spring would be my favorite. Central Florida, leaning towards autumn is the favorite. And Southern Florida winter most likely would be my favorite.

For me, it's a tie between summer and spring - by a landslide. After that, autumn (as horrible as it is) at least gets a slight nod over winter because it's not cold most of the time.

Seasons where I live:
--Mid December to early February is winter, which is unpleasantly chilly with high relative humidity and highs usually in the mid 40s to low 50s. However, we have snow cover less than 10% of this time period, and subtropical plants like Southern Magnolia, Winter Pansy and Needle Palm thrive here.
--Mid February to late April is spring. Average highs go from mid 50s early on to mid 70s later. Frosts are common in February and March, but days are more pleasant. Cherry blossoms, bradford pears and wildflowers usually return late February, but buttercups and daffodils usually return in mid February. Frost ends around April 6. Leafouts usually happen in early April with some years having them in very late March.
--Early May to early October has many highs in at least the upper 70s. High dew points usually arrive in late May or early June, not backing off for the rest of the season. Average highs peak around 90F in mid to late July. Nights range in the mid 50s near the edge of the season to low 70s in mid July.
--Mid October to early December is what you could call "autumn." Frosts return around October 28. Leaves change around mid October and drop around early November, after which views are very bleak. Highs range from mid 70s in mid October to 60s in November and mid to low 50s in early December, with dew points as high as lows allow and things usually uncomfortably cold from Thanksgiving onward.
