Jiangnan is the Chinese name referring to the Yangtze River Delta and surrounding areas. Jiangnan has similar temps and precipitation to North Carolina but is cloudier and has warmer record lows. Record highs are similar, summer lows are higher than NC but this may be due to a more pronounced urban heat island.

Decide between:

Nanjing vs. Raleigh
Suzhou vs. Virginia Beach (OK, not NC, but right there on the border.)
Shanghai vs. Wilmington
Huangshan vs. Great Smoky Mountains

It's also worth noting that Nanjing has a large hill called Purple Mountain that is 1400 feet high and actually resembles many smaller mountains in the Piedmont like those in East Tennessee or Kennesaw Mountain, Stone Mountain, etc.

Zhejiang province has Tianmu Shan, which is similar in height to Brasstown Bald and also bears a resemblance to the North Georgia Mountains.

Huangshan is one of the most popular natural tourist attractions in China, similar in height and climate to the Great Smokies but it looks much craggier and steeper.

Shanghai is on a very flat coastal plain, similar to Wilmington.

Jiangnan was a wealthy area with busy ports but also was famous for its cotton and textile production, like North Carolina.
