Some brazilian states were hit by a strong polar air mass, breaking records of decades.
Brasilia registered a low of 1.4⁰C this morning, setting a new all time record, in May! The previous record was 1.6⁰C in July of 1975. Frost was visible in some locations of the brazilian capital.
With an altitude of more than 1100m, but a latitude of only 15⁰S, Brasilia usually has a pleasant weather in the winter months, cool in the night and warm in the day. Never too cold, never too hot. This was a very rare event.

Cold blast about to hit Australia and New Zealand next weekend. The most interesting is the snow, models predict it to fall over Tasmania at sea level, including the capital Hobart, maybe a good amount. New Zealand south island west and south coast probably will get some too.
