Invasive and poisonous! Too bad they didn't get killed in the snow.

Photos from yesterday at Hatley Castle, one of Victoria's two "castles".

This giant beech tree is very impressive when it leafs out.

Lots of people out enjoying a rare warm day.

Peacock.

Rhodo. I think.

Those ones are in a park. It doesn't seem like there's an effort to eradicate them. I'll make sure I don't let my dogs eat them, so far they seem uninterested.

Yesterday we got back into the routine of cloudy skies and cool temperatures. Spring blooms, which did receive a bit a boost from the last couple of days, still seem to be progressing at a glacial pace.

Lots of snow in the Olympics.

A little bit of sunshine late in the day yesterday brightened up an otherwise dreary weekend and gave the nascent spring blossoms a chance to shine.

Cold air aloft created interesting skies over the area this weekend.

Pano over Victoria looking across the Strait of Juan de Fuca towards the Olympic Range (obscured in cloud).

Looking across the Haro Strait to San Juan Island.

Brief glimpse of a rainbow in the same general direction.

Overlooking one of the Cordova Bay golf courses.

Looks more green than year, despite current temperatures being similar. The grass has only just begun to grow here and is still quite short with yellow-green patches that haven't fully recovered.

The grass here is very vibrant green now, and growing a fair amount. The past week has really helped with all of the rain we had.
