It was a beautiful day to bbq and play sports. Now, it will be even nicer for a high school football game.

Seen a storm like that only once in the UK in Berkshire on July 3rd 1999 in which there were 150 lightning strikes in just over two minutes in one town not far away. Happens every 1,000 years in England and I was lucky enough to be there.
THe only storm I can remember that even came close to last night was 2nd December 2003, when we were getting constant lightning from midnight until around 8am....but the frequency and intensity didn't match last night's, which was just unbelievable. Never ever seen anything like it in my life, some of the bolts covered nearly the whole sky....right overhead. At about 11pm the show started, with the storm about 50km away, the backyard was completely illuminated, it got really intense just after midnight, I was blinded several times, some bolts so close I could see them exploding into beads perhaps no more than 2 houses away, yet strangely the thunder was never loud. Never got those ear splitting cracks and gut busting booms. Must've been muffled by the rain/cloud. The storm finally dissipated at about 2am....I was so mesmerized I had no idea I was outside for nearly 3 hours and soaked from the rain!
