I was traveling from MA to NV started on Wednesday early and yesterday got stuck in Amarillo due to a blizzard on/near I-40 west. It is now 11am on Saturday on 3/28 and I-40 is still closed! but sun is shining, no snow, though it is cold and icy. Just 12 hours to sunny weather. Life is so unpredicatable sometimes.

That's Panhandle weather for you! Amarillo was in the 70's the day before! Can you tell us how much snow fell? I have heard some reports say as little as 6" and as much as 24". I am so jealous.

This was one NASTY storm. When it passed through in my area of western Colorado, we had a hard rain, 5 minutes of snow, then sleet, then sunshine, then rain, then 3 hours of snow, and the wind blew consistently about 40 m.p.h. the whole time.

Snow totals all over eastern Colorado ranged from 1 to 3 feet. Same in New Mexico as well.

The topper was Dalhart, Texas, about 80 miles northwest of Amarillo. 8 to 12 foot snowdrifts in that area.

One word describes it-YIKES!

WOW, this is one wicked storm!!! March came in like a lion with heavy snow across the eastern seaboard and it's leaving like a lion as well.

They shut I-40 down at the OK/TX border as the storm moved in. Probably a good thing as west OK had 8-16" of show and drifts 6 feet and higher. Along with icy conditions underneath. The weather does turn quickly in these parts.

Default 9.9"

I saw on the news on April 1st that we got 9.9" here that day. And it was in the 70s the day before!
