I remember long summer days when all I saw was blue skies and I longed for thunder, lightning and rain. I also remember dreary winters where I longed for Queensland's sunny, warm temps. I'm just not a good for the Med climate, prefer the warm subtropical anyday. Only good thing is humidity in summer is tolerable.

I can relate to your "suffering". I hate seeing nothing but sunshine in the extended forecast, and my area is less sunny than Perth. Hang in there. Hopefully some rain and cloud cover will come your way.

Where are you btw? It seems it's mostly weatherfans or wannabe meteorologists who tire of Perth's endless sunshine. I'm in Bridgetown now, and while I've discovered we get 2555 hours a year on average, it's been the driest year here ever so I might as well be in like Mullewa or somewhere!

I live in New Jersey (near NYC in the northeast US). I think my area is slightly cloudier than NYC and coastal areas of New Jersey. Taking a stab in the dark, I'd guess around 2500 hours, give or take a couple hundred? I'll try to dig around for the data. Or maybe wavehunter can post his sunshine hours map again.

Lol, thought you were somewhere in WA. Yes probably about 2600 hours, similar to where I live.

Give me "endless" sunshine (with some winter rain that's no too dominant) over endless maritime temperate-zone changeability any time!!

We don't really live in endless sunshine. Or close to it.
I really like the climate where Trimac lives (Bridgetown), though it's a bit dry.

Bridgetown seems quite warm for a Mediterranean climate. Average high around 85 F during the summer? Dry, sunny, and warm...blah. I would hope the winters make up for it.
Forgive me for my lack of knowledge on the area. Is my crude assessment correct?

Yeah you're right. Although sometimes it feels like we do.
Generally we seem to have a good mix of sunshine and clouds over the course of the year, but slightly above 50% sunshine. So on average we get more sun than clouds.
Edit: Looking at one source, it says Binghamton, NY averages 49% sunshine while Central Park averages 58%. I wonder if my area would be in the middle (around 54%) or if it leans one way or the other.

Bridgetown is classified as a cool Mediterranean climate, because the nights are rather cool (55°F). Together with the lack of humidity, you might find the summer not as bad as you would expect. You'd probably dislike the endless sun. I'd assume the winters are rather cloudy but not endless cloud?
