Thank you guys for your replies and suggestions. Fortunately, I have found a solution. My current job has decided I am "too valuable to the company" to let go so they are going to allow me to continue working full time at the same wage. Technology is awesome!

I make more than 3 times what our rent would be in a month so they shouldn't need any job information from my roommate which is good because he still needs to find a new job once we get there.

Hopefully I'll be able to fax or email all the paperwork/pay stubs so by the time we arrive in Florida, we'll be completely set to move in.

If there are any tips or advice you guys could offer on making this kind of move (1,200 miles) that would be greatly appreciated. We have never made this type of a move before so I'm sure there are factors we need to consider that we have yet to think of.

Also, would you guys say the Deerfield Beach area is a good one live in?

I just moved to West Palm Beach from California a few weeks ago. Prior to arriving here, I made sure to secure an apartment and all they asked for was my credit history and either a pay stub or W2. They didn't ask me for a letter of intent or a Florida pay stub. If either of you guys have decent credit and proof of income from a non-Florida employer, it should be fine but I guess each property management company is different?!

Interesting you moved from the OC to West Palm. How do you like it so far?

I would never rent a place in FL sight unseen. There are too many problems with places here and scams in general. Often what you would see in a picture is not what you see in person even.

There are plenty of condos for rent in Coral springs (west of FT. Lauderdale). I've noticed that Delray has some advertised. Apartment complex.....require allot of documentation. Private rentals are a bit more lient.

Those of us that "invested" in real estate before the collapse..........just want to pay the bills. So we tend to be a tad more flexible.

Good luck!

I have a 2/2 rental coming up on Monday in the Boca Del Mar area for 1100. Tile floors, remodeled baths, vaulted ceilings. Owner is in good financial position.
Good luck with your move!

Maybe check vacation rentals by owner sites? Sometimes the owners may be willing to discount a rental that's sitting empty, and they won't require paystubs. Good luck - moving with only a little savings and no actual job lined up seems like a gamble.
