hi

Im in desperate need of help. My husband has a job in Wellington which he needs to start on the 25th of July. We are relocating from MA. We did not realize how much the rents in Wellington are so want to look elsewhere. I really dont want to pay more than 1600 a month for a three bedroom. An agent forwarded rentals in Lake worth at a place called Lantern Key. We know nothing about the area at all. We have two small kids and a third on the way. I want to know about safety, community and if there are older people VS. young. Any information would be appreciated. Also we would be willing to look anywhere that would be a 20 to 30 minute commute for my husband to wellington. Thanks for your help!!!

Honestly, I would say that area is pretty boring with no character at all. If you want to check out and drive around any area that someone suggests you can do so using google maps -- youtube "how to use google maps" it if you're unfamiliar. In my opinion, in Palm Beach County, almost everywhere west of i95 is pretty boring, plain and ugly as far as location. Ask about Downtown West Palm Beach for that price. That's a great area

Try Looking at West Palm Beach and Boynton Beach. Take a look at the listings on your computer for communities you might like like Coral lakes, since you have young children I would suggest you lool at the internet listings and find an agent - I will be moving to that area in 6 mos or so and I have had excellent cooperation and assistance from 2 realtors I am working with.
Relax and take a deep breath - look for places near good schools ! Good Luck

Coral Lakes is a 55+ neighborhood, might not be the best choice for a young family..
There's a 3/2 single family home in Lacuna, in West Lake Worth, that looks real nice for 1700 that you might be able to get a little lower.
Other than that theres a few townhomes that may work. Nice rentals usually rent in a week or so, so you have to act fast if you like something.
Good news is when you go to buy a home it's usually less expensive to own in this area than rent right now.

It really depends on where in Lake Worth you look. We ended up doing a temporary (vacation) rental for a few months while we looked around to find out the best area for us, and where we technically bought was in Lake Worth. It's in the Lake Charleston subdivision though, which is almost in Boynton Beach (a lot of people are surprised when I tell them it isn't), and it's in one of the best school districts in the area. It may be "boring" to live west of I-95, but with a toddler and a baby on the way, boring was just fine with us for now. We can always move east later to a more exciting area when the kids are older and/or moved out .

It's been 4 months, I'm sure the original poster either backed out of moving here or found something cheap in the crappy ghetto parts of east of the Turnpike. There is a nice trailer park off off of Haverhill, probably $500/month.
