Interesting, several years ago Broward was considered safer and less-congested than Palm Beach County. Now though, you know the deal

The sad thing is, it seems like if you don't live in an extremely expensive area here like Wellington, Boca Raton, Palm Beach Gardens, etc. you have to run into these awful problems.

Also, I read in the Palm Beach Post today that South Florida is second to New York for the most gangs in the United States. And it listed most of them from being in PBC

PBCboy,
You listed Wellington, Boca, PB Gardens as being safe does the unincorporated area of Lake Worth fall into the safe areas?

Blacklight,

Hello, do you really believe there is no safe place in south florida? Even the areas mentioned by PBCboy, you don't believe are safe enough to raise a family? I am interested to know why you feel this way. If you don't mind please share. We have friends and friends of friends down there and they seem happy and secure in the areas they reside. Some have children in the public school system and have no complaints. Thanks!

Yes, most of unincorporated Lake Worth is very nice (the worst you have to deal with are rude, snobby *******s). However, the actual city of Lake Worth is a gang-infested, ugly, old-looking town that no one would want to live in unless they have to (or if they come here from another country, where it's actually a step-up).

Wellington, Boca Raton, and PB Gardens are very nice areas. They are quite expensive to live in, however.

Yes, there are "Safe" places in South Florida. In Palm Beach County, anywhere west of Jog Road is safe.Once you get into north county, the whole thing is safe (PB Gardens, Jupiter). Boca Raton is another area that's safe even east of Jog. This includes the western sections of Delray Beach, Lake Worth, and West Palm Beach. It doesn't sound like a lot, but believe me, a very vast section of Palm Beach County is plenty safe.

In Broward County, anything west of University Drive is safe. This includes large chunks of the cities of Parkland, Coconut Creek (Although it's east), Margate (East also), Coral Springs, Tamarac, Sunrise, Plantation, Davie, Weston, Cooper City, Pembroke Pines, and Miramar. In fact, Coral Springs (in 2006 anyway, things are changing) was named the 10th safest city in the United States. So yes, there are safe areas in the upper two counties, however I would be inclined to say that in Miami-Dade County, there are very few safe areas.

Prices are coming down a lot, even in Jupiter and PBG, you'd be surprised!

With the price of housing coming down so drastically where are all the people selling going? Out of state? Especially in WPB county where are these people going? How do you think this will affect the whole area, job-wise, etc...? Curious to know what the "locals" think. Thanks!
