I am posting this in a few cities:

i have family in ft lauderdale (sunrise) and west palm beach (lake worth)...originally i was planning to move to sunrise because that is closer to family that is more available (I am ill and moving to be closer to family)...anyway.....i just found out that my sister's husband is really against our move because he feels it is going to be a big burden on his family

however.....my other family (mother in law) lives in lake worth in west palm beach...she is away alot and let's just say...she is willing to help but i can take her in small doses

anyway...since my bro in law is so against us being so close in sunrise, i am looking for a place midway between the 2 that is affordable....my hubby and i are 37 and 41 and no kids, 1 car between us and i am not well...we need something affordable...somewhere we can rent a small house or townhome...

i know boca raton is midway between but...it is way too expensive.....can anyone suggest any affordable cities that might put us halfway between family so as not to burden anyone but still have them close enough by (right now we live across the country in arizona all by ourselves with nooone even on the west coast ;(

Thanks so much

pompano and coconut creek are in there. pompano gets a lot of derision in city data but is worth looking into in your position. we have lots of thrift stores, square footage for $ better than palm beach county, inexpensive live music venues, less upscale party environment, more houses in your price range, and are pretty much equidistant to sunrise and lake worth, and there is beach area for rent. Also lauderdale by the sea might really appeal to you. it is the next city south of me. very easy to get to 95 up commercial from lauderdale by the sea, then easy enough to go to sunrise west. . . to lake worth you can take a1a if it is east lake worth.

if it is west lake worth then coconut creek would probably work better. i don't know the area. also west deerfield beach.

I love lake worth, but you have to be willing to accept that the general socioeconomic demographic is not the same as boca. . . but they have great live music, less expensive party atmosphere, houses in your range for rent and i'm guessing good thrifting although i haven't done the thrift circuit there in 15 years so who knows

Hi. Can you state more about how much money you are able to spend per month? Everyones definition of affordable is different so that is why I ask. Also how many bedrooms you want?I agree about Coconut Creek I really like that area. I am in Boca and actually got a deal so you may want to keep that still open. I am not that familiar with Lake Worth but did rent my mom a place that was Lake Worth but basically Wellington and I agree it was very cute area and I enjoyed it there. I have heard parts of LW are not so great though.

I've lived in east Lake Worth for six years. Prior to that, 8+ years in Pompano Beach on A1A.

Both towns have their good and bad points, and good and bad areas. It really depends on what you're looking for, but I'd nominate certain areas of either as affordable and pleasant places to live.

Paul

Default had to reregister but this is nankjay

true of alot of places being good and bad...

someone just told me pompano or coconut creek would be good because we also LOVe ,live music and there is a ton near delray beach but only problem is .....it would be further commute to husband's job in ft lauderdale and miami

gonna keep researching...heard alot of mixed things about pompano beach...someone also said coral springs would be still closer to my sister in sunrise but a bit closer to my mother in law in lake worth

oh..someone asked about our budget..

our "ceiling" if you will is $1250...1300 if we really really had to...but we need at least 2 bedrooms and 1.5 or 2 bathrooms...would love 3 bedrooms but know not gonna get it though i have seen some cool stuff for that price..problem is...half the stuff i am looking at that is cheap is probably cheap because it is eitherin a bad area or older

older is absoltely fine...we don't need granite counters or the works..ammenities..except a pool....we now live in an older townhome with a community pool.....we have 2 bedrooms and 1360 sq ft (we came from a 1700 sq ft 4 bedroom home before that)

we really do not want to do apartment living becaluse we are not only used to townhome/home living but it is hard for me due to the nature of my disability not to have parking near me, neighbors upstairs making noise (I function at night mostly and most neighbors not happy with that)...and we often don't have money to go out so we would like space.....last time we did apartment living we had such small space could not entertain alot

so...ideally 2 to 3 older townhome...one floor or 2 floors but one MUST have a room downstairs because i have periods I cannot walk...and our ceilingis 1250-1300

hope that helps for those who asked.

Assuming your credit is decent. You could always own something like this... RMLS RES Customer No VT Report for under 1200 a month if you wanted too. This part of Boynton is a pretty nice area. Where I'm going to move personally. Near Renaissance Commons where there is a lot of cool restaurants, and good shopping in the area.
With FHA loans you can get in there with as little as 5k down. This one is a foreclosure theres one a little further west for the same price same size too. (this isn't my listing, just letting you know you could buy if you wanted too)
If you are from AZ you may want to rent for awhile though to make sure where you want to be though.

I really like Coconut Creek area. I am not sure about a townhome but I live in a gated community in Boca and pay less then your budget for a 2/2 furnished. You may be able to find something. Look on craigslist or realtor.com. Some peole who are private renters will take less often then stated too so FYI.I am sorry about your health conditions. I can relate as I have one that greatly limits me. If I can help in any way I am here
