Since my parents and grandparents were from Weirton, and we lived in Ripley, some of my fondest childhood memories are visiting grandparents in Weirton during the summer. One of the things I remember best, apart from Isaly's Ice Cream Parlor, or the G C Murphy's five and dime, was the curfew siren. Every night, I think, except Saturday and Sunday, about ten pm, off it would sound.
Does it still go off?
Anyone been near Weirton recently? Currently live in Houston now, but job may move me to terminal in Charleston.
Thanks.
That's an interesting post. I grew up in Hancock county, but outside of Weirton. I've never heard of them having a curfew siren before. That was a Weirton city council mandate, I guess?
