Either would be a failure to roughly half of the voting public and the same song and dance begins anew in 4 years. The differences between the two parties are rather minor and inconsequential. It cracks me up that a change in tax rate between 32% and 38% is apparently the difference between "red-blooded capitalist" and "pinko commie". The US will have a relatively free society with a heavily mixed economy no matter which dude is president.

When Australia and New Zealand experimented with the Socialist Goverment concept in the mid 1980's their tax rate was in the mid 60% range...smothered those economies and the people revolted against it about 10 years later...saw the Chinese Capitalistic Economy Model and decided to export goods to China...

We had the 38% Tax Rate with the Clintons...it was able to balance the budget then...now the money spending is completely out of control and bigger bailouts are on the horizion for Social Security and Medicare...

If the economy is shot because nobody is working..and the plants have shut down...where does the money come from..

In my individual home economy, if I do not work and generate cash, then bills would not be paid...water and electricity would be shut off...
what we need is goverment takeovers of water boards and electric companies...they can pay for those services and I can get them free...ha ha don't hold you breath...

McCain was too old...and several of those old Senators wear those adult diapers...how about a mandatory retirement for them at say 75 years...or even term limits...would certainly scale down the cost of running for the office...this years Pres?
Was it a total of 5 Billion? Hope I'm wrong on that one...who got the money?
Rupert Murdock, english social communist and owner or most of our press and tv media...call him a
King maker....

RCB is not cognizent...the party removed him...not able to function...did it quietly, with the Obama media smokescreen....see who the new chairman is...one of the biggest theives in the USA...

DK don't despair. As long as we can keep King Coal from destroying the landscape WV will be a tourist center. I'm sorry Byrd stepped down from his Chairmanship, but he is still smart enough to see that it was best. He is a sharp old Byrd. Obama only won because the economy imploded. Look at the large states he won with only a few percentage points, if it hadn't been for the economy McCain would be President-elect. I feel sorry for all the Obama supporters who think the sky will be bluer tomorrow.

I sure hope something turns bluer and the stock market gets back in gear where people can make $$. Where did one put their $$$ they were saving for a house, retirement, etc - in the stock market of course. Supposedly better rate of return than savings account, CD, etc. How are we now -- ouch. Not so bad if you loose profit but when it dips into the principal - !!!!!

I've had it with banks, the market, etc. - I'm putting my $$ under my mattress. Of course, if we all did guess that would make things even worse by taking the $$ out of circulation. Oh woe is we!

I just about see a rerun of 1992.
BO has won the Presidency and the left has control of both areas of the legislature.
We already see by BO's appointment of one of the most radical currupt (He is one of the main fatcats of the Fannie/Freddie scandal) partisan's as his Chief of Staff.

For anyone who believes that BO is anything but a partisan leftist must be smoking some dried ramps. You can bet the BO,Pelosi,Reid administration just as the Clintonista's attempt to pass every Big Gov't Socialist idea running. Take that along with the coming tax increase we will ALL have in 2010, you will have an election revolt and a Contract With America Part II, as we did in 1994.

I am an optimist here. We are an overall conservative nation and as Veterans return home even more so. When conservatism is "spelled out" it wins. Prop 8 in California was a good example. This was a piece of far conservative legislation that passed in the most Liberal state in America. When conservatism is replaced with mixed philosophy as with the Bush Doctrine and McCain's overall campaign it loses. One thing you have to give the left is the fact that they always stand firm on their beliefs, no matter how far out of the mainstream it may be. They do not bend, nor do they surrender. The choice was clear with the Left in this election. We are Socialist, We will increase Government, We will take more of your money, We will erode Liberty, We will bring back the Politics of Jimmy Carter, or as BO states "Change WILL come to America" like it or not. The GOP was invaded by jellybacks. The McCain campaign was one of concession. Overall is was one big question mark. End Result. BO.

Watch closely, history does repeat itself. It did with the Presidential election as 1976 was again reality. In 2010 mid-term elections, 1994 may be reality again. Let's hope, or it will never be the same again.

Prior to Obama being in office we were headed for fiscal meltdown because of fiscal ineptitude & deregulation that's been longstanding. To claim that Obama is responsible for the 3rd notice given that your car is about to be impounded doesn't mean he did it to you. How is it in the republican mind that Bush isn't responsible to anything for 8 long years? Do you realize you're inadvertently calling him an empty suit? That's not what repubs are supposed to be about. Not the real party.

Unemployment is currently at a 14 yr high throughout the country prior to nov 5th. Whenever you're willing to look at some facts... you'll be empowered to respond appropriately.

I paid less during clinton years because I was rewarded for saving. I was better able to take responsibility for my own retirement and my own health care. In those years I took the jump from union to mgmt and had the same tax implications. I had to bush proof myself. If you're very fearful of Obama's plan, it would make sense to obama proof yourself. You're as free to do so as I did during republican reign.

McCain isn't a wimp. He's not evil. The RNC did this to him and themselves. The sooner it's realized, the sooner you can get your balance for the scales back on the table. Republicans ARE needed. Republicans sadly were missing, usurped by something else not republican. Time to define yourselves clearly and I look forward to your return once that's done.

....and what was the upper-level tax rate in the 50s and 60s - the longest, greatest period of American production? It was much more than 38%....

The idea that taxes are intrinsically bad or good is silly. It depends on the situation. Whenever the morons that run the country realize economics is DYNAMIC and not driven by an ideology, perhaps we can get somewhere.

I'm a firm believer that everything happens for the better and whether you worry or not, tomorrow comes. Bush was elected twice to office to show the country and the world how NOT to run a government. Couldn't have made it any clearer for you Republicans that your way is NOT the way to go in the ever-changing, multi-cultural world of which we are becoming more and more integrated and dependent on.

Makes one appreciate Obama even more. He was elected for the better. Now make that a reality for your own life.

I'm a registered Demo and voted a straight ticket this time...what I see for leaders are 'good talkers like John Kerry, can say nothing to both sides and do it very well...these people are not managers of anything...they are politicial hacks...prostitutes who jump in bed with the biggest dollar...

We are at the mercy of their descisions...and they do effect us...The current busted economy was crafted beforehand to help win this election...now, it will take years to get it going again...

Bush paid back his cronies...the oil companies...and Obama will do the same...If you believe anything else, you are goofy...
This everchanging multicultrual world is a repeat of the 60's ...the Congo is on fire...Muslim extremists have replaced the Che Gueverra types...The bigger crooks are the international corporations...and they for the most part go on undetected...

Remember, Obama has strong ties to the Chicago Machine...they put him in the Illinois Legislature...He will pay them back..you do not turn your back on family..Jack Kennedy did that...with Hoffa...look what it got him...

There exists an idiom in the political world...'Politics makes strange bedfellows....so very true, everywhere.
