In Putnam county, our garbage bill was about $18.00 per month. Waste Mgmt just took over - got the first bill and it is $38.68.

OK, the other company had real problems and I understand an increase. But, I'm pretty shocked the new amount is more than double.

Is this new amount of $38.68 about the same you pay in your area?

Ours run $68.00 for 3 months. It is suppose to be 20 something a month but they add in a fuel surcharge, that is still on the bill even though gas has gone down to below what it was when we first signed up. If it is on there on my next bill I am going to call and question it.

BTW, we have Apple Valley Waste.

I thought surely this must be for 2 months but I have read every part of the bill and it does not say so. Actually, it just says for November. I am biting at the chomp waiting for their office to open so I can call and ask about it.

Just talked to Waste Management - the bill is for 2 months even though the bill itself does not say so. Garbage is still a little under $20 per month. Whew - I was about to have a heart attack.

That's good news. Do you have recycling there? If we want it we have to pay an additional (I think $11.00), needless to say we just throw it away. It is a ripoff considering they sell it and make money. They actually want $30.00 pick up your Christmas tree after Christmas.

That is one thing about MD, we had 2 trash pick up days and 1 recycling each week and also they had a truck in the summer to pick up yard waste every week. I am sure we paid for it but it came out of our taxes.

Years ago we had recycling but if we do now, I'm not familiar with it. However, I think with WM we may get it again. Don't know about an extra charge.

About $15 a month. We have recycling, but they don't accept glass.

I have Tygart Valley Sanitation, and my bill is $18.04 per month, but there is no recycling.
