My new job requires me to rather quickly relocate to one these counties because they are a part of my agency's regional coverage. The job requires me to go to various places in this region but a lot of the destinations are probably going to be like Mount Vernon and other more densely populated areas in the southernmost counties... I'm pretty open to a lot of these areas, but I would love to be as close to the thruway, 84, or the parkways as possible because I'll need good reception for my work phone and it's a very mobile job. My ideal unit would include all the utilities, heat, electric, AC, whatever, easy/free parking... I don't really care about whether its an urban or rural area, though. I've been told Florida, NY and other parts of Orange county are pretty reasonable, and I'm interested in New Paltz since I'm pretty young myself and would like the university town atmosphere.
A lot of people posting on here seem concerned about commuting to the city, which for me really isn't much of an issue per say since I set my own schedule and never have to venture into NYC proper. But I still think it's going to be a challenge to find something, I'm not really willing to spend more than $825/mo... Any tips?
