Would like to hear peoples' favorite bagel places in Westchester. I'm willing to drive as south as New Rochelle and as north as Mt. Kisco (although would be interested to hear about any great ones outside of those boundaries too)
I have been going to Hand Rolled Bagels in Rye for a while, and they are pretty great..but would like to explore other places. I'm not looking for the enormous doughy rock-type bagels. They should be smallish, with a crunchy outside and slightly chewy inside.
Finally, something important to discuss! The best I've found in Northern Westchester is by far the Bagel Emporium (multiple locations). Nothing else comes close to meeting your criteria. Would love to hear if another contender is out there.
Both these places easily meet and surpass your guidelines in The Good Bagel Manifesto.
H & R Bialy in the Quaker Ridge shopping center in the north end of New Rochelle is amazing. Sundays the line is always out the door and it's so popular politicians will always be around during election season shaking hands. Scarsdale Bagels at 52 Garth Avenue is also excellent - but parking is a pain. Take two people so one can circle around in the car while the other shops.
Hands down Lenny's in Rye Brook. I prefer it to Hand Rolled.
Lenny's in Rye Brook is pretty terrible. Hand Rolled is the best in the Rye/Harrison/Rye Brook area but even those are just ok.
