Does anyone have any good recs for shore fishing spots in Westchester? I bought a permit last year, but never really found anywhere good to fish. Don't really care what we catch, just want a place to bring my kids where they can practice casting, and maybe catch some small stuff from the shore.
The only place I know about is Wampus Pond, where you can rent a boat and fish from there. It's a really nice activity, but would like to find a place from the shore as well.

Thanks!
Later in the season, Croton Point Park is nice. There are tailor and cocktail blues once the weather is warmer. I have caught some nice striped bass on worms early in the season, but there are tons of perch and small snappers that will kill your bait.
Further south and across the river, Piermont, on the pier, is great.
Years ago I used to work at a day camp that had a fishing spot they used to take kids to, that was on the shore of Kensico Reservoir. It was somewhere right off 22, but I can't for the life of me find it now. Does anyone know where I'm talking about?
I know the area to which you were referring. We used to take the campers from Purchase Day Camp there back in the late 80s, right near the airport. I've tried finding the exact spot in the past couple of years, because it was easy shore fishing and I don't have a boat...unfortunately I can't find it either! Maybe the shrub and trees have grown so much that I don't recognize it?
I started this thread a few years ago, but just wanted to bump it up again. Anyone have any new ideas for (legal) Westchester shore fishing spots?
Has anyone fished at the Playland pier? I'm looking for somewhere with really dumb fish - we're not very good fishermen.
