My hours are 9:30 to 5:30 p.m. and I drive from Croton to Greenwich. Traffic is not bad if I leave about 8:30. Does anyone know how traffic would be if I had to arrive at 8:30 and left my house at about 7:30 a.m.? I'd be going down 9A to the Taconic at 7:30, and across 287, then north on 95. Thanks.
Did you ever get an answer to this? Or did you end up doing the commute? I have a new job in Greenwich, thinking about moving to Croton Harmon (my husband is commuting to Poughkeepsie for a year, hopefully via metronorth). I will be leaving the CH/Ossining area around 7:15am and heading back around 4pm. Any insight? Thanks so much!
Yikes!!! I used to commute from Ossining to Greenwich (some days Stamford) and my blood pressure rises just thinking about it. I would not recommend it. If your husband is commuting to Poughkeepsie, there are many other options along the Hudson Line. You will want to be as close to 287 as possible. Check out Tarrytown or Irvington.
I used to work in Purchase and woukd leave at 4:30 to commute back to Ossining and it was just getting busy, but always under 30 minutes. If I left anytime past 4:35, I'd be stuck in traffic big time. And forget about Fridays in the summer!! I always did back roads on Fridays which took me about 30 minutes.
Going at 7:15 should be pretty traffic free. But anything after 8:15 the traffia really picks up.
Daisy, just happened to see this. Yes, I am still commuting from Croton to Greenwich. I leave at about 7:05 and it's not bad. Just very tedious. Friday mornings I can do it in about 35 mins., but other days can take 50 mins. Not the worst commute i in the world. Going back, it's about 50 mins., leaving Greenwich at 4:00. Croton is beautiful, aside from being so close to Indian Point. It's nice to come back there after spending the day in Greenwich! Way less aggressive and less rude.
