Does anyone have any insight into this neighborhood? I wondering if it's a safe. I was there over the weekend and it looked a little sketchy over by Pelhamdale ave. Also, i'm worried that the open ungated park (chester park) might attract youngsters at night to hang out drugs, drinking, etc., any additional background into is very helpful. I used the search function and saw some posts but they're a few years old. thanks
Here is a link to the Chester Park website http://chesterpark.org/.
Additionally, you can call the local police precinct to get more details - no one ever does that but it will help you in your decision making!
Hello! My young family and I moved to Chester Park from Fort Greene, Brooklyn, two years ago. It's a wonderful, family-oriented neighborhood. Extremely safe and quiet. The neighborhood is a bit closed off from the main streets, so we get very little traffic. The only people who use the park are the residents - it's a private park "owned" by the residents and members of the neighborhood association, not the town. The neighborhood association holds many events in the park, like movie night, an Easter egg hunt, bbqs, etc. There's a progressive dinner and holiday party each year. It feels like a neighborhood out of a movie (I always say it's like Star's Hollow in Gilmore Girls). Pelham is a great community, you really can't go wrong. Let me know if you have any other questions!
