I've noticed recently that historical property taxes in Westchester are no longer shown on Zillow. This must be a pretty recent change.

I know it's not a point of pride for the county, but anyone know why this is the case?

Interesting. We we're recently looking at properties in NC and some properties had property taxes and some didn't. I just checked mine and they only show 2013-2015 and they aren't right to the penny, but close enough. Their Zestimate number is easily off by $100,000

When I was shopping for a home in Westchester, I noticed that the property taxes were extremely inaccurate for this area. Conversely, when I shopped in NJ, they were correct to the penny.

Maybe they finally figured out that they just don't have an accurate data source in this county and removed it to avoid confusion.

Because property taxes are only a third of the total house tax bill. Westchester homes (like all of NY) has a separate school tax and a separate Westchester county tax. It may be harder to come up with total tax amount than another state (like NJ) where homes only have a property tax.

I have zero skin in the game, but find the raveis.com realtor site the best for tax and school info (for towns with multiple schools by zone).

I would just budget 2-3% of the home price. Even if you get the accurate property tax there's a strong likelihood you'll see an increase if the house is re-assessed to the purchase price.
