Does anyone have any information on Assisted Living centers in the Asheville area? My mother-in-law will be moving with us, and would like to retain her independance as long as possible. The place she lives now is family owned and we found it by word of mouth. They are wonderful to her, she is treated with care and respect. We would love to know if anyone has heard of anyplace that might fit the bill. Thank you so much, this is a big part of our move and we want to make certain she is very happy.

I have no personal experience with any of the places that I've seen around. I've just seen them while I've passed by.

There's one decent looking private assisted living place on Sweeten Creek Road in Arden. There's also an Episcopal Church affiliated retirement community on Hendersonville Road, south of Biltmore Forest, and a Lutheran (ELCA) affiliated retirement community at Hendersonville Road & Airport Road. The Lutheran place should be either Fletcher or Arden. They all look nice but you'd need to check them out for yourself.

BTW, there are others around too. The one's I've listed are just the ones that I've seen.

Default Assisted Living Asheville

There are two facilities that stand out from the crowd. Givens Estates on Sweeten Creek and Deerfield Estates on Hendersonville Rd. Both offer a independent through skilled care and have a great reputation for quality of care provided. Smaller facilities that are also very good are Crecent View on Hendersonville Rd. and Arden Woods (indpendant only).

There is one near AB Tech and either on Victoria Rd or just off it. I can't remember the name off it but my husband's great aunt is there. Liz
