Do you have a sketch of that plan ? Cannot imagine why Publix chose that intersection; only to be 'near' the other stores. It's mind boggling traffic there on a good day.
As of yesterday all the buildings are still standing - they are taking them apart piecemeal, metal is being recycled, wood siding is being salvaged - no idea what is inside any of the buildings other than what used to be the steak house and last I saw that was being emptied. I'm sure nothing is salvageable from the old El Paso and haven't seen any activity there - I expect that will be bull dozed. Will be driving by there today or tomorrow and see what's going on currently. The building where the pharmacy used to be has the fake roof/awning removed now and the original brick is exposed along with an old bike shop sign - would have been pretty to restore the building. I'm sure the brick will be salvaged - it's charming and the design is very hipster!
Hopefully the construction of Publix will go along faster than the demolition of the old plaza is going.
The demo and regarding of the old fitness center for the new Walgreen's in Laurel Park was completed in only 2 weeks, and there was a lot of asphalt there to be hauled away. Just an observation.
Hopefully the construction of Publix will go along faster than the demolition of the old plaza is going.
Groundbreaking for South Market Village is projected for mid-2016. I guess that will be either June or July.
