Just found out our children got accepted into Artspace Charter school for the upcoming school year. We had been waitlisted through the lottery process. I have one artsy child and one "regular" child. My artsy child has never been a great student, unfortunately. Digging deeper, I have found Artspace's math testing scores to be pretty disappointing. They seem to have a pretty weak math education compared to other area schools. I didn't realize this when we first applied. I CAN provide my kids with extra math tutoring outside of school (they have always had math tutoring anyway) but I don't want them to fall behind either if the school sacrifices proper instruction in favor of arts overall. On the plus side, the arts infused learning program could be outstanding and their reading scores appear to be above average.
Does anyone have any insight on this school? Is the education there worth the extra arts infusion? I have to make a decision quickly. My goal is to help the kids LIKE learning and to get a good education, but not an inferior education. Really looking for anyone who has direct knowledge of this school in recent times. Thanks!!!
