Went to Morganton's State of Origin Beer festival and also checked out South Mountain Distilling and Brown Mountain Bottle works to get a a sense of their entire craft alcohol scene and make a video of it. Outside of Ashevillle what's your fave stealth WNC Beer Town?:
The original Boone craft brewery was Tumbleweed Brewpub that opened on Blowing Rock Rd in 1992 across from what is now the Holmes Center at ASU. At the time there were only 5 other craft breweries in all of NC. The name was changed to Cottonwood because of of a claim of trademark infringement by a business in the southwest. Cottonwood moved to Howard Street in 1997. Others may disagree, but I think their most legendary beer was Cottonwood Lowdown Brown that was later brewed by Carolina Brewing in Mooresville after Cottonwood closed. Sadly, Cottonwood Lowdown Brown is longer being brewed.
Just love Boojum Hope Fiend! It’s one of my favorites!
