I'm living in Brooklyn but tired of the grime, noise, lack of trees and high rent. I'm originally from Minneapolis and I loved the green, the lakes, the liberal bent, the arts, but I've done that place for too long to return.
Now I'm looking for a slower, less expensive place to live and Asheville keeps coming up (along with Louisville) in conversation.
Questions:
1. Can one find a decent studio or 1br for $600?
2. Can one get by with either bike, buses or motorcycle rather than car?
3. Would an artistic, liberal person feel at home in Asheville (I've heard yes)
4. Are jobs really that hard to find? I see you have some ad agencies though I don't know if they are hiring. I'll have to check.
5. Is there a market for alternative healing? People seeking Reiki? Acupuncture, etc?
6. Is the city Lily white and segregated (which I did not like about Minneapolis) or is it a little more mixed race, age, etc? Which I like.
