Two power outages this am shut down my PC so I went to storage and got my APC unit. Can't have system failures due to ice.

Everyone here got one?

We've got three. We both work at home, so both of our computers are on them. In addition, the phones on our desks, wireless access points, DSL modem, router and network switches are on them. If nothing else, it gives us a chance to finish what we are doing and shut down in a clean manner.

Mine tells me I can run for 35 - 40 minutes. Mrs. Mule's is a little larger capacity, so I think she can hang in there for 45 minutes or so safely.

Probably won't need one! The house will remain a constant temp most of the time and lights we can do without - to bed at sunset and up at sunrise. And a day or three with TV or internet isn't a problem; we'll have cell phones for emergencies and rainwater reserves for water needs.

I LOVE this new house - sure hope we can afford it.
