Asheville neighborhoods (Charlotte, Brevard: home, bars, friendly)

What are the cool, artsy neighborhoods in and around Asheville? I'm looking for something that is pedestrian friendly with cafes, bars and galleries. what would someone expect to spend on a 3br, 2ba home in these areas. Thanks so much for any input.

West Asheville (Haywood/Brevard Rds), Charlotte Street, and Montford come to mind for me. 3BR/2BA would be about $215k, $375k and $275k respectively for each of those areas. The latter two are within walking distance of downtown.
