An article in today's Citizen-Times says that I-240, the busiest road in WNC, will be repaved over 17-18 months starting as early as March 29 2010. While lanes are supposed to be open 7 am - 7 pm, there is no doubt it will impact already heavy traffic. Patton Avenue will likely be nearly impossible during rush hours (IMO).

This news alone would make me shy away from Leicester, but it also makes the entire East Asheville area tougher for the duration.

Please plan accordingly.

NC DOT taking a year and a half to repave a 8 mile long road. That sounds about right, and lets get started while a lot of I40 traffic is still using I240 due to 40 being closed by the rock slide. If they are going to screw it up, let's do it right, and completely.

It is like DOT trying to fix the pot hole that keeps destroying tires on the I240 bridge over Hominy Creek between malfunction junction and Brevard Rd Exit. DOT has "fixed" that hole at least 15 times since the first of the year.

I am in Wyoming and on the Denver station they reported a landslide on I70 that appeared from the pictures to be much worse that the slide on 40. &0 os back open and after 4 months 40 is still closed. NC DOT is incompetent and they do not know anything about road maintainence.
