The President will be staying in the lovely Grove Park Inn. I've been to Asheville and had an awesome time, so I think the Obama's made a great choice to vacation there.

wow, can't wait to hear about the security everywhere

last weekend we went to a big soccer game in philly and since joe biden was coming too, thousands of people (34000) spent the first half outside the stadium.

for a small town like asheville it's a pretty big deal, I would say

at least the obamas got taste

They picked a fantastic place! I've stayed there before! It doesn't make much sense anymore since we bought a place in a town nearby to vacation. I hope they get to sample the fantastic spa!

Great publicity for the greatest town ever! (I mean city)

Run away! Run away! Go no where near the Grove Park Inn (a gorgeous place) until they are gone. Probably stay clear of the Parkway, too. Sheeeesh. Traffic jams coming.

Wonder if they'll go to Leicester?

You're kind of a downer lately. You seemed a lot happier about living here before you lived here.

My Dad died; sorry. It has affected my moods. I'll try to be happier.

So sorry for your loss, Guy. My 97-year old grandmother passed away recently and my mom (78) feels a bit like an orphan - after having her Mom around for her entire life it's a huge loss - maybe even harder for us the older we get. Time and memories are a great comfort. Best to you and your family.

I'm so sorry for your loss .. you and your family will be in my prayers.

I'm very happy that President Obama has chosen Asheville as a vacation spot. I remember at his event here in 2008 he mentioned how beautiful the area was and his only complaint was that he didn't have time to play golf. I sure hope he will be able to get out on the links this time around.

My personal hope is that the local politicos and whatever papparazzi in tow will leave him and the First Lady alone and let them enjoy their vacation. After all, they are allowed to some downtime.

This will be a pretty big deal to our little town and as I read from the CVB Director - you can't buy that kind of advertisement.
